Safe Return Home ID·Assist - Launched in
Victoria
In Partnership with Victoria Police
Safe Return Home - ID·Assist
was launched at Victoria Police Headquarters on February 25th
2004. The project was introduced by the former Chief Commissioner of
Police, Christine Nixon (Official
Victoria Police press release
) and launched by Gavin Jennings former Minster for Aged Care in Victoria.
The ID·Assist system is now
available on the internal Police intranet throughout the State,
Police mobile data terminals and also accessible via the
Emergency 000 system. All police in Victoria have immediate
access to the system. Please read the Safe Return Home
ID·Assist
official launch press
release .
The program is for any person considered 'at risk' - this is
someone that may become disoriented and go missing or otherwise need
assistance from police/emergency services. As such the system
applies to not only older people with memory loss but others with
intellectual disability, developmental delay, mental illness,
physical disability or a brain injury of some type (eg. closed
head injury). Please go to the Contact Us page if you have any questions on
this innovative program designed to provide peace of mind and
support for all Victorians.
